Random Simpsons Quote:
We're dropping the geography requirement. The children weren't testing well. It's proving to be an embarrassment.

What is Wrong With The Fox Network?

Last night, A moment that I thought would never come arrived.  I have to admit that is was one of the single saddest and most depressing acts I have ever had to commit.  On the evening on Sunday, May 4th at approximately 8:13 pm, I changed to channel during a new episode of The Simpsons on Fox.

For some reason The Fox Network has been running voiceover narration tracks over several of their most popular shows.  Has the world become so overrun by the whole "Such and Such For Idiots" Book Series that we now need to have "Television for Idiots."  When Marge walks into a room and looks at Homer, I don't need some dumbass to say "Marge walks into the room and looks at Homer"  right after it happens.

A couple of weeks ago the same thing happened on another episode of The Simpsons.  My initial response was that it must have been a mistake.  Maybe someone at the network accidentally hit a button to make the narrations happen.  It continued into the next show, and I have seen it during other popular Fox shows as well.  I watched the entire episode a few weeks ago but felt very cheated and annoyed.  I vowed to never again subject myself to such annoyance.

Maybe Fox thinks that this is a clever publicity stunt.  Or maybe the folks over at NBC are paying them to do it with that hopes that it will boost THEIR Neilsen ratings.  If that's the case then it worked last night.  I watched some of the 3 hour "History of NBC" Special.  I subjected myself to many bad jokes, including appearances by more than one of The Golden Girls.  Maybe that fact alone will give you some indication of just how irritated I was with these voiceovers.

If you share my feeling of despair then do as I did and contact the folks over at Fox.  Their email address for programming feedback is askfox@foxinc.com.
